Creating Private Cloud Storage

So recently I have wanted to create my own cloud-based file storage, not because I don’t trust Dropbox but because I just wanted to be able to manage my own storage and build a file storage service that I can link to this blog for downloads.

Now I run my webservers off Digital Ocean and while I was browsing file servers, I came across documentation on digital oceans website. This guide was about how to set up a file storage server using OwnCloud.

So off I went and starting following this guide, and in no time I had a file server setup and running, and I was then able to download the OwnCloud desktop app and have cloud access just like Dropbox and Google drive, so that is pretty exciting, and since I already own a domain I was able to just add a subdomain to the file server, which makes it so much easier to access and maintain.

You can access my file storage via the downloads page on this blog, and if you would like to get access to storage on the server please email me, or drop a message on this post.
