Practical Project: Raspberry Pi Thin Clients.

My Research Interest.

I have a strong passion for cloud computing and an idea I have is to create Raspberry PI thin clients connected to VMware horizon to replace desktops within schools and workplaces.

How will it work?

The way this will work is that there is a Pi connected to the network which then talks to a VMhorzion server to connect to a VM that it is hosting.

“Raspberry PI’s as a thin client, can they replace the average desktop?”

This is a very practical project, the research I would have to do is make sure that the PI could handle the network load and make sure that the price is actually worth it such as licensing.

What challenges do you expect to face?

I don’t think I will have any challenges with starting this as I already own a Raspberry Pi and am familiar with a cloud platform to set this up. I can also set the server up in a virtual environment locally to ensure it works before implementing it into the cloud.

Are there any ethical concerns.

As far as I am aware there are no ethical concerns with creating Pi thin clients.
