So I’m on summer break and I was working at EB games for a month over the Christmas period, and during that time I got a call from the NMDHB (Nelson Marlborough District Health Board).
I applied for a job there October last year and I got a call to start mid-January, I was over the moon! I’ve been working there for over three weeks now and I’ll put a break down of what I’ve been doing so far.
My first week consisted of imaging laptops and desktops for a massive roll out within the DHB. I had never used SCCM before so it was great to learn.
I then started deploying the laptops and also supporting the users within the DHB and I must say my previous retail/sales rep skills helped a lot in the social situations. Users tend to be a bit pissy when they are having issues, so being quick to defuse the situation helps.
Now I have been setting up SATO label printers to be deployed, these are a label and ribbon-based thermal printers. At my first full-time job I was actually a technician for label printers so again this gave me a lead for dealing with this equipment and less training was needed.
And to finish my last week up I had to patch cables in this mess!
